A close friend of mine referred to my poems as “small snacks,” and it stuck so well that I decided to steal it.
I hereby introduce the series, “poetry snacks.” I’ll share my haikus and other poems in these short posts.
In the past few years, I’ve fallen in love with the haiku format (5-7-5) especially. It forces you to choose your words carefully and create poignancy within a tight frame. I often overthink longer forms of poetry, which is why I like the haiku — it’s sweet and to the point.
So, without further ado,
your first two sky-kus…

sun catcher, version 2

rainbows sprinkle my ceiling
glimmers of my day
with comfort & care,
sky
